Description

The part-time adult soccer official is responsible for officiating in schedule soccer games and programs sponsored or coordinated by the Parks & Recreation Department. A high level of independent judgment is necessary to be an Official. Officials are under the direction of the assigned Recreation Services Manager Athletics.

Employees are hired as AT WILL employees that serve at the pleasure of the City and may be terminated at any time with or without cause.

Soccer Official will be compensated $50/Per Game

Examples of Duties

The Official works outdoor at a City owned fields or designated school sites.

The Official will be exposed to loud noises, moving participants and the public.

Assist in enforcing rules and regulations.

Assist in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas.

May provide services as timekeeper, scorekeeper or linesman at games.

May handle inquiries and complaints from the public, players, parents and coaches.

Ability to establish and maintain effective, harmonious, cooperative, and productive working relationships with participants including coaches, players, supervisors, and other employees of the Parks & Recreation Department.

Maintains accurate time sheets and turns them into designated supervisor.

Performs assigned work as required.

Typical Qualifications

Ability to learn and follow City policies and regulations.

Ability to appear on time for all scheduled games and notify appropriate individuals in advance if unable to work.

Ability to see play with sufficient clarity to make accurate decisions.

Ability to repeatedly and quickly traverse the field to monitor play.

Ability to work at least three (3) games in succession.

Prior experience in officiating soccer games is desirable.

Prefer FHSAA certified or student certification through FHSAA.

Must be 18 years of age.

Supplemental Information

This is a designated "Will-Call Recovery" classification in the City's Emergency Operations Plan and will require the employee occupying this position to work for declared emergencies. Attendance at National Incident Management System (NIMS) training at the appropriate level is mandatory.
