Minimum Starting Salary Construction Inspector I $23.54 - $30.01 hourly, depending on qualifications Construction Inspector II $24.86 - 31.70 hourly, depending on qualifications Construction Inspector III $26.40 - 33.66 hourly, depending on qualifications
Nature of Work:
Performs technical field inspections and office work enforcing national, state, and local codes governing the design, construction, and wastewater treatment, and other public works projects. Work involves inspection of Employees assigned to this classification must exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in the interpretation and application of codes in making technical decisions. Work is performed under general supervision, according to established guidelines, and performance is reviewed through reports submitted, meetings, and results obtained for technical sufficiency and consistent application.
Minimum Requirements
Construction Inspector I - C
Associate's degree plus six (6) months experience in site construction, public works construction management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess ACI Level I (Field Testing Technician) certification or acquire certification within 1 year of hire date. FDOT Asphalt Paving Technician - level I certification and FDOT Earthwork Construction Inspection - level 1 certification required within 6 months of hire. Position requires background check which includes a polygraph examination.
Construction Inspector II - C
Associate's degree plus two (2) years' experience in site construction, public works construction management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
