STARTING SALARY:
Civil Engineer II: $26.98 - $35.75 per hour, depending on qualifications
Civil Engineer III: $29.41 - $38.97 per hour, depending on qualifications
Civil Engineer IV: $32.06 - $42.47 per hour, depending on qualifications

NATURE OF WORK:

Performs professional engineering work in the design or review of engineering plans and specifications for the construction of streets, sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, traffic signals and parking facilities. Performs professional engineering work in the field of traffic studies including traffic data analysis and warrant studies. Responsible for the analysis and documentation of crash data for all areas within City limits and directs technicians in the deployment of traffic collection equipment. Prepare designs and specifications for construction and/or are responsible for the review of plans submitted by engineering consulting firms to insure construction is in compliance with City standards and engineering principles, methods, and techniques. Work assignments are received from a professional supervisor who defines the scope of the work to be performed, but the employee is expected to plan details of work and make technical decisions. Work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion.
Minimum Requirements

CIVIL ENGINEER II: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, plus two (2) years of experience in Transportation Engineering required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A valid Florida Driver's License is required.

CIVIL ENGINEER III: Same as Civil Engineer II, above, except requires four (4) years of experience as identified, including at least two (2) years of experience in transportation development review, traffic studies, or crash data analysis; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. One year of supervisory experience desired.

CIVIL ENGINEER IV: Same as Civil Engineer III, above, except requires Registration as P.E. in the State of Florida.

VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
