UPDATED TYPING TEST INFORMATION IN MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

This is a full-time CONTRACT position with the same benefits as Regular full-time. Most contracts are renewable for terms of one year.

NATURE OF WORK:

Performs complex and specialized administrative work to City Commissioners. Primary duties include answering the telephone, receiving visitors, and screening and routing mail; performing research and collecting information for Commissioners; organizing and assembling materials for meetings, conferences, etc., and coordinating scheduling arrangements; composing and preparing correspondence; processing requisitions; and other general support duties. Employee is expected to exercise independent judgement, discretion, and initiative in performance of duties. Work is performed under general supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures.

WORK SCHEDULE: Usual office hours plus regular evening and weekend work required.

Minimum Requirements
Associate degree plus two years experience in a responsible office position with considerable public contact; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must type 55 CWPM. Ability to operate personal computer and related software. Experience with current version of Microsoft Office desired. Shorthand and basic accounting skills may be desired. Must be able to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy with employees, officials, and the public.Florida driver license required.

MUST TAKE TYPING TEST (UNLESS CURRENT PASSING SCORE ALREADY ON FILE).

Typing Test Information:

  • Tests are administered by invitation only.
  • Only applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be invited via email. Invitations will be sent to the email address listed on the application.
  • Applicants will have (3) three days from the date of the invitation to complete the test. Tests may be completed virtually or onsite.
  • Applicants are allowed one opportunity to pass the typing test within a posting period or any given 30 days. Scores are valid for one year

VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
