NATURE OF WORK:
Under general supervision, performs fire safety review of designs for buildings, tenant occupancies and project sites to ensure new construction and/or renovations of structures are in compliance with all pertinent federal, state, and local codes and ordinances, regulations, and statutes; collaborates well with designers in providing recommendations or resolutions related to code compliance; may perform lead or limited supervisory duties as directed; may perform other related work as required. Experience working as a team leader or supervisor is desired.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED supplemented with college, technical courses in fire safety, inspection, plan review, or other closely related field required, and six years experience as a Fire Plans Examiner require. Must possess a valid Fire-Safety Inspector II certification or equivalent National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) training and technical experience. Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Experience working as a team leader or supervisor is desired.

If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree.
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
