Minimum Starting Salary:
Heavy Equipment Technician I: $18.94 - 24.14 per hour, depending on qualifications.
Heavy Equipment Technician II: $20.31 - 25.89 per hour, depending on qualifications.
PLUS $.30 per hour for each ASE certificate (up to six).
PLUS $.30 per hour tool allowance.
PLUS $.90 per hour when working the second shift (2 pm to 10:30 pm).
Nature of Work:
Performs skilled mechanical work on heavy-duty equipment with GVWR more than 26,001 lbs. Responsible for diagnosing problems; determines appropriate maintenance work; repair and overhaul of heavy alternative, gasoline, and diesel-powered equipment and hydraulic components under general supervision. Work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion for accuracy and completeness.
Minimum Requirements
Heavy Equipment Technician I : High School diploma or equivalent and two years of experience as an automotive or diesel mechanic; or accreditation from a vocational institute. Two ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) T-series or one ASE (T-series) and one EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) certification in related field required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire . Valid Florida driver license required.
Heavy Equipment Technician II : High School diploma or equivalent and four years of experience as an automotive or diesel mechanic. At least three ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) T-series and two EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) certifications in related field required; or any combination of 5 ASE T - series and/or EVT certifications in related field required. Valid Florida driver license required.
FLORIDA COMMERCIAL DRIVER LICENSE NUMBER CLASS B OR HIGHER OR EQUIVALENT FROM ANOTHER STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA CDL LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
