Nature of Work:
Performs complex clerical, technical, and customer service work in the Employment or Testing section of the Human Resources Division. Employee assigned to this classification is responsible for answering phone and in-person inquiries, assisting applicants with the application process; assembling, reviewing, processing, and entering personnel data into databases; entering and processing financial information to include invoices; and assisting with administrative functions related to the Civil Service Board, entrance, and promotional exams. Work is performed according to established policies, procedures, contracts, and deadlines. Employee is expected to exercise discretion and judgment, develop work routines, and complete assignments with limited supervision. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed upon completion for accuracy and adherence to policies, procedures, and contracts.
Minimum Requirements
High school graduate with coursework in business communications. Two (2) years human resources, administrative office, direct customer service/client facing or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must type 30 CWPM. Must be able to work with little or no supervision. Must be able to handle confidential and sensitive material.
Strong personal computer experience desired (Excel, Word). Bilingual helpful. Knowledge of applicant tracking systems or software (such as NeoGov) and human resources and financial management software (such as Workday) preferred. Finalists will be subjected to proficiency exam.
Typing Test Information:
- Tests are administered by invitation only.
- Only applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be invited via email. Invitations will be sent to the email address listed on the application.
- Applicants will have (3) three days from the date of the invitation to complete the test. Tests may be completed virtually or onsite.
- Applicants are allowed one opportunity to pass the typing test within a posting period or any given 30 days. Scores are valid for one year
