Nature of Work:

Performs technical and administrative work related to traffic signal projects. This position oversees and participates in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of sophisticated traffic signal electronic equipment. The incumbent coordinates work performed on signal projects with various contractors/municipalities and corresponds with project managers and engineers on a regular basis. Duties include plan reviews, review of proposals, change orders, letters of acceptance, invoicing inspections and attending progress meetings. This position requires the knowledge to diagnose and ability to repair/maintain fiber optics and use all equipment and tools associated with fiber optics.

Work Schedule : This position responds to all traffic signal emergency calls for all non-working shift hours on a rotating basis. Typically Monday through Friday, 6 pm to 6 am OR Friday 6 pm to Monday 6 am on 24-hr shifts.

Minimum Requirements
High School graduate or equivalent with five (5) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of traffic signal equipment required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Signal level III and Temporary Traffic Control (TTC)/Maintenance of Traffic Advanced certifications preferred.

The following are required:

  • International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) level II
  • International Municipal Traffic Signal Inspector preferred or required to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) or Intermediate Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) preferred or required to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Valid Florida Commercial Driver License Class B preferred or required to obtain within twelve months of hire.

FLORIDA COMMERCIAL DRIVER LICENSE NUMBER CLASS B OR HIGHER OR EQUIVALENT FROM ANOTHER STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA CDL LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
