NATURE OF WORK:

This position performs para-professional level work for the Fire Department coordinating the Take Heart CPR program. Work includes organizing, scheduling, and teaching Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and other life-saving training classes. Organizes, schedules, and oversees community events, serves as liaison between the department and internal and external stakeholders. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Fire Public Information Manager and performance is reviewed through conferences, reports submitted, and results achieved.

Minimum Requirements
Associate degree and certification as an American Heart Association Basic Life Safety Instructor with 2 years' experience instructing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPS) and Basic Life Support (BLS); or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must have a valid Florida driver's license. Position requires background check which includes a polygraph.

If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:

  • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
  • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
  • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
  • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
