NATURE OF WORK:

Performs specialized work in the area of recreation and leisure services. An employee in this class of work is responsible for performing activities of average difficulty at an assigned recreation area. This position differs from a recreation specialist in that the position is assigned to a Regional Center and the employee in this class serves as assistant supervisor. Under general supervision, the employee performs tasks which include leading, supervising and officiating at a variety of sports, games and programs . Employee may be responsible for a city-wide program and initiatives at the direction of senior management. The employee is required to exercise some initiative and independent judgment in planning and conducting grant work, overseeing special projects and all other duties assigned. Work at night and on weekends is required. Some work is performed outdoors and an employee is exposed to weather conditions including heat. An employee in this position assists in administrative procedures which are involved in the design and conduct of recreation programs. Work is reviewed through periodic observation by a Regional Center Supervisor while in progress and through reports submitted.
Minimum Requirements

High school Diploma or equivalent, plus two (2) years of experience in organized recreation and/or leisure services field required; or an equivalent combination of related education. Fund raising and grants experience preferred. Polygraph and criminal background check required . A valid Florida Driver's License is required.

VALID DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
