Nature of Work:
Performs the duties of the Database Administrator, including highly technical and administrative work in the installation, development, and maintenance of the City's MS SQL Database environment. Ongoing database monitoring and performance tuning of mission critical 24/7 instances is a primary responsibility. Provides consulting services to the Applications Development staff to correctly develop application database design models. Responsible for developing and enforcing Citywide data and database design standards, operational procedures, and software interfaces. Incumbent exercises considerable judgment in the resolution of technical problems and in all administrative and professional situations. Work is performed under limited supervision and is evaluated while in progress and upon completion through direct observation, discussion, review of established procedures, and achievement of desired results.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field required with four or more years related experience at least two of which must have been in database team leadership and project coordination and include the following: training and mentoring assistant/backup database personnel; coordinating activities developer teams in using database software; arrange, supervise and perform vendor software and tools upgrades. Specific experience with MS SQL and database modeling concepts is required. Training and/or experience with AWS and Azure cloud experience preferred but not required.
