POSITION SUMMARY :

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the accounting and related auditing duties for Xenia Hotels & Resorts properties. This position performs basic accounting functions, including but not limited to: invoice payment and coding, bank reconciliations, escrow reimbursements and a limited number of hotel financials.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Demonstrates highest standards of personal and professional integrity, adheres to company's policies and procedures, and complies with applicable laws, government rules and regulations.
  • Prepares account reconciliations; analyzes various general ledger accounts to ensure activity is accurately recorded.
  • Receives monthly balances sheets/income statements from property managers to upload data into JD Edwards for preparation of the trial balance and related financial statements.
  • Performs hotel accounting (preparing income statements, balance sheets, and other financials) for hotel properties including related workpaper support and reconciliations.
  • Processes/records fixed assets activity in FA subledger (Sage).
  • Provides data necessary for auditors to complete audit tasks.
  • Inputs annual operating and capital expenditure budgets in JD Edwards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY :

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Education:

  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in accounting, finance or related field from a four-year college or university or equivalent professional knowledge and/or work experience.

Experience :

  • This position requires up to three years of prior professional experience in basic accounting. Experience in a real estate environment is desirable.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • No certifications/licenses are required for this position.

Skills:

  • Intermediate skills in Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook are required for this position.
  • Intermediate skills in JD Edwards (or comparable general ledger software program), Nexus (or comparable invoicing software program) and Hubble (or comparable budgeting and reporting software program) are preferred for this position.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Keyboarding skills are required for this position
