NATURE OF WORK:

Performs administrative and management work directing and coordinating transportation engineering activities within the Transportation Department. Work involves the supervision of all activities related to transportation engineering. Responsibilities include traffic operations; intelligent transportation systems; traffic safety; neighborhood traffic management; construction zone and special event management and permitting; roadway and infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; coordination of transit design, implementation and operations; reviews of transportation system impacts and mitigation plans; coordination with numerous local, state and federal agencies; representation on behalf of the City on various technical committees; development and management of the City's Capital Improvements Program for transportation engineering; streetlighting. Work is performed under the Director of Transportation and performance is reviewed through performance goals, project delivery, written reports submitted for the attainment of desired management objectives, and results achieved.
Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Transportation or Civil Engineering and five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in transportation engineering, traffic engineering, or related field with at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity required; or an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience. Florida Professional Engineering (P.E.) License and a valid Driver's License are required. Professional Traffic Operations (P.T.O.E.) Certificate preferred. Master's Degree in related field desired.

A VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
