Description

Purpose of Classification The purpose of this classification is to coordinate the Health and Wellness programs for employees within the City of Boynton Beach. The incumbent will f acilitate through scheduling and coordination with vendors all wellness programs and activities that actively promote a wellness culture that improves the health, well-being, and personal performance of employees. Additionally, this position will contribute to the health and wellness strategy and recommend changes in program design and future offerings.

Essential Functions The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in any order of importance. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Designs, organizes and conducts employee wellness and education programs to motivate a healthy lifestyle.
Serves as a liaison between employees and management for all matters or concerns affecting general employee safety, health, and wellness.
Assist with the development, planning, marketing, and execution of City-wide wellness initiatives and programs to reduce health risks, medical costs and encourage healthy lifestyles.
Responsible for gathering and analyzing data to measure program success on wellness initiatives.
Confer with instructors on special activities involving health, wellness, strengthening and conditioning.
Disseminate information to employees regarding the health & wellness program.
Develop and manage peer support program for wellness.
Schedule internal training for all employees.
Coordinate internal and external training.
Assists with and manages special projects as directed.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Physical Therapy or closely related field; and
  • Two (2) years of experience assisting with the development, administration and analysis of health and wellness programs; and
  • Must possess [or be able to obtain within fourteen (14) days of hire] and maintain a valid Florida driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications for education and experience must be met before consideration of the following Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Physical Education, Physical Therapy or closely related field.
  • Valid CPR/First Aid Certification.

Ability to prepare accurate and thorough written records and reports.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervisory direction.
Ability to understand and quickly and accurately follow brief oral and written instructions on moderately complex matters.

  • Knowledge of wellness programs and similar employee programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to analyze the effectiveness of these programs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and commercial organizations providing wellness programs.
  • Ability to maintain records and equipment.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate time and people.
  • Ability to market the wellness of other programs to employees and management.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to change and keep a flexible approach to work.
  • Ability to reach consensus between individuals.
  • Ability to deal effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to provide high quality customer service.
